Zambia has taken a major step towards a more sustainable future with the launch of its first electric vehicle charging station. Subilo Energy, a local energy company, has expressed its commitment to promoting sustainable energy in Zambia and the Sub-Saharan region through the provision of these EV-Charge Stations.
At the official launch in Lusaka, Gregory Chama, the Chief Executive Officer of Subilo Energy, highlighted the importance of the private sector in reducing carbon emissions. He also noted that the installation of charging infrastructure will help to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in Zambia and the surrounding region.
Kabayo Muhau, President of the Zambian Electric Mobility Innovation Alliance, has called on the government to consider waiving import duty on all electric vehicles and equipment.
This development could be a major step forward in the fight against climate change, as well as helping to stabilize the energy sector.
