Kenyan doctors, numbering around 4,000, have been on strike since March 14, 2024, demanding the implementation of a labor agreement signed in 2017.

The agreement promised better salaries, improved working conditions, and increased recruitment of doctors. However, the government cites financial constraints as the reason for its failure to honor the agreement.

This strike highlights longstanding grievances within Kenya’s healthcare system, including staff shortages, inadequate healthcare provisions, and failed negotiations dating back a decade.
