Youths from Umuatulu Village in Enugu Ukwu, Anambra, have protested the illegal leadership takeover and growing insecurity in their community.
They gathered at the palace of Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, urging action against Ebele Ngini, whom they accuse of disturbing the peace. The protesters displayed placards with messages like “Ebele Ngini is a terror to our community” and “We beg Gov. Soludo to intervene and restore peace.”
Ralph Okonkwo, representing the group, explained that Ngini’s illegal actions included disarming the village vigilance team and dismantling surveillance cameras, exposing residents to further danger. The youths are demanding urgent intervention from both the traditional ruler and the state government.
In response, Igwe Ekpeh acknowledged the unrest caused by Ngini and his group, highlighting the failed attempts to resolve the issue through dialogue. He vowed to involve the police to recover the weapons and surveillance equipment, emphasizing that the law will be used to restore order.
