Former Niger Delta militant Asari Dokubo has strongly criticized Minister Nyesom Wike and President Bola Tinubu for their purported roles in exacerbating the political turmoil in Rivers State.
Dokubo’s remarks, delivered in a video circulated on X.com, depict Wike as overstepping boundaries and assuming a godlike stance in the state’s affairs, particularly in his conflict with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Dokubo further accuses Tinubu of orchestrating a political handover of Rivers and Bayelsa to Wike, implicating him in what he perceives as unfair power distribution.
Moreover, Dokubo lauds Governor Fubara’s efforts to increase the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), noting a significant rise from N12 billion to N27 billion, albeit suggesting that the initial figure upon Fubara’s assumption of office was a mere N6 billion. In response to the ongoing crisis, Governor Fubara has announced plans to establish a panel of inquiry to scrutinize governance affairs in the state, including recent comments by former Attorney-General Prof.
Zacchaeus Adangor, who resigned from his position and criticized the government. Fubara’s move underscores the depth of the political rift in Rivers State and the efforts to address it.
