Dr. Ngozi Orabueze, the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Biafra government in exile, is now facing serious legal consequences, with strong indications that she will be charged with mass murder in the United States. This follows her alleged role in orchestrating violence and killings in the South-East region of Nigeria under the guise of Biafra’s secessionist movement.
Less than a month after her controversial rise to power, Orabueze, who replaced Simon Ekpa, has become a divisive figure, accused of inciting terror and escalating instability. Despite her previous imprisonment by Finnish authorities for terror-related activities, she continues to fuel conflict, including making violent threats against individuals in military and security uniforms.
The IPOB-Political Wing has now filed a formal petition with the US Department of Justice, urging the prosecution of Orabueze for her actions that have resulted in civilian deaths, business destruction, and disrupted education in the South-East. The group’s spokesperson emphasized the need for justice, asserting that Orabueze’s continued provocations jeopardize the region’s peace and stability.
The growing violence in the South-East, under the leadership of figures like Orabueze, not only undermines the legitimate aspirations for Biafra but also damages the community’s fabric. It is crucial that both local and international legal bodies address these matters with urgency to prevent further bloodshed and to restore peace to the region.
