Bill Gates has expressed that his 2021 divorce from Melinda French Gates is his biggest regret. In an interview with The Times of London, he called the split “miserable” and said it was a period of intense pain for both of them.

Gates, reflecting on the end of their 27-year marriage, admitted, “The divorce thing was miserable for me and Melinda for at least two years.”

Despite their separation, Gates emphasized the importance of their shared history, saying, “There is a certain wonderfulness to spending your entire adult life with one person.”

Both still maintain a relationship for the sake of their children and grandchildren, with Gates adding, “Melinda and I still see each other.”

Gates also expressed disappointment over Melinda’s resignation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, stating, “I was disappointed that she took the option to go off.”
