Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré has banned judges from wearing British and French colonial-style wigs, marking a push to decolonize the judiciary. The ban seeks to affirm national identity and sovereignty by discarding relics of colonial influence.

Burkina Faso joins other African nations in promoting indigenous traditions over foreign symbols.

In Ghana, the newly inaugurated government has announced the reduction of ministries from 30 to 23 to curb spending.

The decision, made by executive decree, eliminates ministries such as information, sanitation, national security, and parliamentary affairs, signaling a streamlined governance approach.

These reforms underline broader trends across Africa, where leaders are taking measures to assert independence from colonial legacies and improve governance efficiency amidst economic challenges.
