Ethiopia is in shock following the tragic death of prominent opposition figure Bate Urgessa, who was found dead on the roadside in Meki, Oromia region.

Urgessa, aged 41, was a key member of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) party and a vocal critic of the government.

His sudden demise has sparked outrage and raised concerns about political violence in the country.

The circumstances surrounding Urgessa’s death remain unclear, but his family has pointed fingers at government security forces, alleging their involvement in his killing.

Meanwhile, regional authorities have denied these accusations, stating that they are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

Urgessa’s untimely demise comes at a time of heightened political tension in Ethiopia, particularly in the Oromia region, where there have been ongoing clashes between government forces and opposition groups.
