The US embassy in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Abba, said Wednesday that security had significantly deteriorated as the military aggression between federal and Tigray forces escalates even further.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the embassy warned U.S. nationals against going outside the capital, while encouraging them to “consider making preparations to leave the country”.
Meanwhile, UN’s secretary-general, Antonio Guterres has appealed to warring parties to consider an “immediate cessation of hostilities” explaining that “the stability of Ethiopia and the wider region is at stake”.
