Falz Questions Tinubu After Rescue of 38 Kwara Worshippers: Where Are the Kidnappers?
Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has criticised the Federal Government’s handling of the recent rescue of 38 abducted members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Kwara State.
Falz, in a post on his X handle on Sunday, said the announcement of the rescue raised more questions than answers. He demanded a clear update on the fate of the men who carried out the abduction.
According to him, the government should not celebrate successful rescue missions without disclosing whether the kidnappers were arrested, neutralised, or still roaming free.
“THIS DOES NOT CUT IT.
Where are the abductors?
Were they killed?
How many arrests were made?”
— Falz wrote.
His reaction came shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the rescue of the 38 worshippers, alongside 51 students taken from a Catholic school in Niger State.
Tinubu had praised security agencies for what he described as coordinated operations across the North Central region. He also repeated his commitment to securing lives and property nationwide.
Nigeria witnessed a series of mass abductions last week, with incidents recorded in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states. The attacks sparked renewed public outrage and debates over the country’s worsening insecurity.
In Kwara, the abducted church members were returning from a programme when they were seized. In Niger State, dozens of Catholic students were also taken in a separate attack, adding to the escalating tension.
As public pressure mounts, opposition voices, including Peter Obi and other political figures, have questioned the government’s approach to tackling the root causes of insecurity.
Meanwhile, civil society groups are demanding not only rescue operations but the arrest and prosecution of the masterminds behind the repeated kidnappings.
