The Federal Government has banned the portrayal of money rituals and the glamorization of vices in Nigerian films, as announced by Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director and CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).

This regulation, approved by the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, aims to curb the depiction of harmful behaviors in movies, musical videos, and skits.

The announcement was made during a National Stakeholders Engagement on Smoke-Free Nollywood, held in collaboration with Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA). The new regulation also targets the depiction of smoking and other harmful activities, aiming to foster a healthier and more responsible film industry.
