Guinea’s military junta has ousted the head of the national electricity company, Laye Sekou Camara, along with his deputies, in response to ongoing power outages sparking violent protests.

The dismissals, ordered by junta chief General Mamady Doumbouya, come after tragic deaths during demonstrations and clashes between protesters and security forces in Kindia and Conakry. The move underscores Guinea’s struggle with governance issues and infrastructure challenges despite its abundant natural resources.
