In a humanitarian effort, the Ukrainian Government has donated 25,000 metric tonnes of wheat to support the World Food Programme (WFP) in providing emergency food assistance to 1.3 million people affected by crisis in North East Nigeria.
The donation, part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, was made possible through collaborative efforts from various countries. The wheat will be distributed urgently to families in need and combined with cash and other commodities to address food and nutrition needs for a two-month period.
This aid comes at a critical time as Nigeria faces rising food prices and acute hunger, with millions projected to be affected during the lean season.
