Giorgio Armani, Iconic Italian Designer, Passes away
The Armani Group has confirmed the death of its founder and world-renowned designer, Giorgio Armani. The company said he passed away peacefully in the presence of his family.
In a statement, the group described Armani as its “creator, founder, and tireless driving force,” noting that he remained active in his work until the very end.
Armani established his fashion house in Milan in 1975 and quickly gained international recognition. He was celebrated for transforming red-carpet fashion, building a global brand that later expanded into Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, and luxury hotels.
The company announced that his funeral will be held privately, while members of the public will be allowed to pay their respects in Milan over the weekend.
In recent months, Armani had been advised by doctors to scale back public appearances, missing some fashion shows but continuing to oversee collections from behind the scenes.
Tributes have poured in following his passing. Italy’s Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli hailed him as “a central figure in Italian culture whose innovative style became a universal language of elegance.”
His death comes just ahead of the 50th anniversary of his fashion label, a milestone that underscored his lasting influence on global fashion.
