Guinea’s military junta has disclosed plans to start holding four days of talks in effort to build a consensus on the future of the country following the coup.
The development follows the suspension of Guinea by the regional body, Ecowas and the African Union amidst calls for a return to civilian rule.
Coup leader, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya and his inner circle has come under increasing diplomatic pressure and threats of economic sanctions.
West African countries have challenged the military to demonstrate its commitment to return to return Guinea to civilian rule within the shortest possible time.
Meanwhile, the military is seeking to determine the country’s future through joint efforts with Guinea’s citizenry.
In the next four days, the military junta will hold meetings with diplomats, civil societies including trade unions, religious leaders and business leaders.
