A missile landed dangerously close to Kenya’s embassy in Tel Aviv’s Ramat Gan district, prompting Kenyan officials to call for the strict protection of all foreign diplomatic missions amid the escalating Iran-Israel conflict. According to senior Kenyan authorities, embassy staff were unharmed and had been working from home at the time of the attack.
Korir Sing’Oei, Principal Secretary at Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed that under international law, diplomatic missions must remain inviolable and shielded from any military hostilities. “Foreign embassies must be excluded and protected from armed conflict at all times,” he told Reuters.
Nearby embassies were also spared damage. Austria confirmed its Tel Aviv mission was unaffected by the missile strike. Lithuania’s foreign ministry stated their embassy sustained no damage, though the missile hit buildings approximately 200 meters away.
The missile attacks targeted several central Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Holon, as well as Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, a facility treating soldiers involved in the conflict. The attacks come as part of Iran’s response to Israeli military actions that began on June 13. Iranian officials claim more than 500 people have been killed in Israel during the conflict.
