In a step toward peace, Israel has released 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of a ceasefire agreement, marking the first major exchange of detainees.
The prisoners, mostly women and minors, were freed from Ofer prison and the Jerusalem detention center, with large crowds gathering in the West Bank to celebrate their return.
Hamas spokesperson Mohammad Nazzal stated that Israel’s inability to achieve its military objectives “forced it to seek concessions at the negotiation table,” noting that Israel had to resort to negotiations to secure hostages’ release.
Meanwhile, the Al Qassam Brigades reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire, with spokesperson Abu Obaida emphasizing, “We announce our commitment to the ceasefire agreement… as long as the enemy adheres to its terms.”
The celebrations were marred by violence, as Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian town of Sinjil, adding to the ongoing tensions in the region.
