Jannik Sinner, currently ranked world number one in tennis, has agreed to a three-month suspension after testing positive for the banned substance clostebol in March of the previous year.

The suspension, effective from February 9 to May 4, means Sinner will miss several tournaments but will be eligible to return just in time for the French Open starting May 25.

Sinner explained that the substance entered his system due to a treatment from his physiotherapist, who used a spray containing clostebol on a cut.

He stressed that there was no intention to cheat, stating, “I have always accepted that I am responsible for my team.”

Sinner’s suspension allows him to compete in the Rome Open after his ban ends, which is the final big clay-court event before Roland Garros.
