In a recent speech, Former President Goodluck Jonathan commended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, calling him the emerging “General” of the state’s politics, despite the challenges Fubara has faced since assuming office. Jonathan, speaking at a chieftaincy ceremony in Etche, emphasized that the political struggles Fubara is enduring are shaping him into a stronger leader. “No one becomes a General without fighting wars,” Jonathan remarked, encouraging the governor to remain resolute.

Jonathan also stressed the strategic importance of maintaining peace in Rivers, given its central role in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region. He urged residents to support the governor’s efforts to stabilize the state, warning that unrest would harm the nation’s economy.

Governor Fubara, who was honored with the title of Dike Oha 1 of Etche Land, expressed gratitude for the support of local communities and reassured them that his administration would continue to focus on infrastructure projects, such as road construction. He also reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining law and order in Rivers State.

Jonathan’s endorsement of Fubara presents a moment of encouragement amidst the political challenges in Rivers State. It highlights a narrative of perseverance, where political resilience is often shaped by overcoming adversity. Fubara’s leadership will likely face more tests, but this recognition could be a defining moment in his political career.
