King Charles has canceled his engagements scheduled for Friday after experiencing “temporary side effects” from his ongoing cancer treatment.
In a statement released late Thursday, Buckingham Palace explained that after the King received his “scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer” earlier that day, he “experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.”
As a result, “His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”
The Palace further stated that the 76-year-old monarch had returned to Clarence House but, following medical advice, his “tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled as a precautionary measure.”
“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the statement added.
Sky News royal correspondent Laura Bundock commented on the situation, acknowledging that it was “obviously a concern,” but assured that “this isn’t a major problem in terms of his ongoing recovery.”
