Police authorities have confirmed recoverying more than nine bodies from the Kano State Tuesday boat tragedy.
The search which involves state police, fire service and members of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps as well as local volunteers is ongoing as hundreds of distraught parents and other relatives remain at the site praying and mourning.
According to the report released by the police, the death toll has risen to 29 while survivors rescued still stands at seven.
Many of the victims of the boat accident are Islamic school pupils – aged between six and 12; who were Bagwai bound for a religious ceremony.
