In Orji, just across from Bonimas Petrol Station, a potentially hazardous situation is unfolding. The site, originally intended for a single decking as per the approved plans from the Owerri Capital Development Authority, now features a questionable three-deck structure. This blatant deviation from the approved plans raises serious safety concerns.
According to local sources, there was no site analysis report conducted to assess the soil texture and topography, crucial for ensuring the building’s stability. The lack of proper planning and adherence to regulations indicates a troubling trend of disregard for safety and building codes, driven by unchecked greed. Authorities need to address this issue urgently to prevent any possible collapse and ensure compliance with construction standards.
