A cult leader, Temple, was killed in Ajegunle, Lagos, on June 17, 2025. OPC members shot him on Olodu Street after receiving intelligence about his presence. Temple was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased was reportedly a leader of the Aye cult group and had been involved in cult-related violence. His death sparked a reprisal attack by suspected cult members, causing panic and forcing residents to flee.
Security personnel have been deployed to the area to prevent further unrest. The Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official statement. The incident has left residents on edge, and the situation remains tense.
According to eyewitnesses, Temple’s killing was a result of the OPC’s efforts to curb cult activities in the area. However, the reprisal attack has raised concerns about the potential for further violence.
