Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has extended the work-from-home policy to help workers manage the challenges brought on by the fuel price surge caused by subsidy removal.
The policy, which began in February, allows employees on grade levels 01 to 14 to work from home two days a week, while those on levels 15 to 17 are allowed one day of remote work. In a circular signed by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, the extension took effect on September 4.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed that the initiative has not only eased the burden on workers but also resulted in “improved productivity across ministries, departments, and agencies.” The move comes after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) raised petrol prices to over N850 per litre. Sanwo-Olu remarked that this policy is part of a broader effort to “keep government operations smooth despite rising operational costs.”
