Rumors about the health of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, have ignited controversy reminiscent of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s secretive illness in 2010. Investigative journalist Jackson Ude has challenged the military to provide visual evidence of Lagbaja’s health, stating, “If the Army says it’s fake news, let them prove it.”
He emphasized the public’s right to know, arguing that “General Lagbaja is paid with taxpayers’ money, and the people deserve to know where the recipient of their tax money is.” Despite the rising speculation, the military has yet to release any footage, leading to calls for accountability and transparency in leadership during a crucial time for national security.
As public concern grows, citizens are eager for the Army’s response to clarify the situation surrounding one of Nigeria’s key military figures.
