Kaduna State has initiated negotiations through a private negotiator to secure the release of 287 pupils and teachers abducted from Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School in Chikun Local Government Area.

The abduction occurred shortly after assembly gathering, with bandits storming the school premises. Governor Uba Sani assured the community of the children’s safe return, while the government has deployed military and security forces for rescue efforts.

The state government, cautious of the sensitive nature of the issue, remains tight-lipped on negotiation details to ensure the safety of the victims, negotiator, and security operatives. Additionally, recent violence in Anguwar Makera saw two worshippers killed during Friday prayers, further highlighting the escalating security challenges in the region.
