On October 12, 2024, the House of Representatives advanced a bill to establish the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal University of Nigerian Languages. Sponsored by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, the bill aims to create an institution focused on Nigerian languages and cultural studies, offering diplomas, degrees, and postgraduate programs to foster language skills for national development.
The university will also support research and collaborate with other national institutions, while the President will serve as its visitor, overseeing evaluations and the ability to remove council members for misconduct. A public hearing is set for the second reading to gather stakeholder input
