The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sought an interim court order to prevent the House of Representatives from purchasing and receiving 360 sports utility vehicles (SUVs) amid controversy surrounding the matter. SERAP has filed a suit challenging the legality of the National Assembly’s expenditure on exotic cars for members and officials. They have also called on President Bola Tinubu to pressure the House of Representatives and Senate leadership to halt the SUV procurement, asserting that allowing it to proceed could undermine ongoing legal proceedings and the rule of law. SERAP believes this action is necessary to maintain the integrity of the case against the lawmakers.
