The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has strongly opposed the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) imposition of a 0.5% cybersecurity levy on electronic transfers.

NLC President Joe Ajaero criticized the move, arguing that it would further strain the financial burden on Nigerians. Despite recognizing the importance of cybersecurity, Ajaero emphasized that the levy unfairly targets hardworking citizens and exacerbates the economic challenges already faced by the populace.

The NLC called for the policy’s immediate cessation and urged the government to prioritize measures that alleviate financial pressures on Nigerians.
