Police arrested the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, during an ongoing protest in Imo state. The arrest occurred as hoodlums attacked protesters and damaged vehicles. Ajaero had called for a shutdown of all sectors in Imo State, accusing the state Governor of neglecting workers’ welfare and violating agreements, including the national minimum wage. As of now, Ajaero’s whereabouts are unknown as heavily armed security personnel took him away.
