Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu, the National Assembly, and the broader political class, labeling them as the “real bandits” terrorizing Nigerians.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ezekwesili condemned the recent purchase of a new presidential jet amidst widespread hunger and poverty in the country. She questioned the priorities of the government, highlighting the extravagant spending on luxury items like a N20 billion home for the Vice President and an expansive fleet of cars for government officials.
Ezekwesili remarked, “The executive, the presidency, and the National Assembly have decided they are the bandits against Nigerians.” Tinubu’s aide, Bayo Onanuga, defended the jet purchase, claiming it was below market value, but Ezekwesili urged Nigerians not to pity Tinubu, comparing his actions to those of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
