Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the leading Igbo socio-cultural group, has praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing David Umahi as Minister of Works. The group highlighted that this appointment marks a significant step in addressing the Southeast’s historical marginalization.
In a statement on August 18, Secretary General Okechukwu Isiguzoro noted that Umahi’s role has brought “joy and pride” to the Igbo people and symbolizes a “new era of partnership with the Federal Government.”
The ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly the rehabilitation of federal roads, demonstrate President Tinubu’s commitment to the Southeast’s development. Ohanaeze also commended Umahi’s “dedication and innovative policies” in advancing the president’s vision for a better Nigeria.
