Staff members of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, are urging an investigation into the Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) over serious fraud claims.

According to Mr. Joseph Onu, representing the staff, “it is unfortunate that three weeks since we wrote to the EFCC, no investigation has commenced.”

The allegations include contract manipulation, awarding projects to family members, and coercing research grant beneficiaries into paying kickbacks.

The staff also claims that “admissions into courses like Law and Medicine were sold for up to N3 million” and that “a N20 million solar project was awarded to a family member of the Ag. VC.”

They are calling for anti-corruption agencies to act promptly to verify the claims and restore transparency
