The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has passed away at 67. His deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is expected to be sworn in, although the state government has yet to officially comment on the matter.

Akeredolu had been battling cancer and had been away for treatment in Germany, leaving a leadership vacuum in the state. Aiyedatiwa called for unity and support to continue the governor’s vision for the state.
