The Martins Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly has once again snubbed Governor Siminalayi Fubara by passing the Rivers State Public Procurement (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
This move comes after Governor Fubara previously vetoed the bill, highlighting tensions between the executive and legislative branches. The Assembly, emphasizing the importance of fiscal responsibility, rallied behind the bill’s objectives, signaling a commitment to upholding legislative oversight.
Additionally, the Assembly addressed pressing issues within the state’s local government system and introduced bills aimed at enhancing the energy sector and streamlining local governance.
