President Bola Tinubu has defended the recent petrol price hike in Nigeria, describing it as a “hard decision” necessary for the nation’s economic growth.
Speaking to Nigerians in China, Tinubu explained that the reforms, including the fuel price increase, are vital to setting Nigeria on the right path. He emphasized the need for tough decisions to achieve development, stating, “The more you want everything free, it will become more expensive and long-delayed to achieve meaningful development.”
Despite public outcry over the N855 per litre price and worsening inflation, Tinubu argued that infrastructure improvements, similar to China’s, are key to the country’s future. He assured citizens that his administration is committed to economic reforms and better leadership.
