Nigerian billionaire Folorunso Alakija, the founder of Famfa Oil, has lost her sight completely due to health issues.

Medical sources report that after a “near air mishap” during a flight with her husband, Modupe Alakija, her blood pressure spiked, which “affected her eyes.”

Despite struggling with her eyesight, one source shared that instead of seeking treatment, “she chose to start a church to help her.” Unfortunately, her vision worsened, leading to her eventual blindness.

Alakija’s journey to becoming one of Nigeria’s richest women began when she secured an oil prospecting license in 1993, which later became a lucrative oil mining lease.

Her business success is also linked to her close ties with Maryam Babangida, the late wife of former Nigerian head of states, Ibrahim Babangida. These connections played a key role in her rise from a fashion designer to an influential oil magnate.
