Nigerian journalist Francess Olisa Ogbonnaya has accused UK-based businesswoman Sandra Duru of attempting to recruit her to damage the reputation of Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a report by Daily Post, Ogbonnaya explained that Sandra allegedly asked her to produce a voiceover that would spread false accusations about the Senator. According to Ogbonnaya, Sandra provided audio recordings and a script filled with fabricated allegations, which she refused to carry out.
Ogbonnaya said, “She wanted me to disrupt and destroy Natasha at the TV station she wanted me to go to on her behalf but not be neutral. I refused because I am a journalist and have plans to run for office like I did before, so I cannot do it.”
This revelation comes amid a storm of controversy surrounding Sandra, who has accused Senator Natasha of attempting to bribe her with N200 million to falsely claim that former Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio was involved in organ harvesting.
Natasha has denied these accusations, which have sparked significant public debate.
Ogbonnaya further claimed that Sandra’s intentions were to use the voiceover to promote false narratives, including the allegation that Natasha had sought to undermine the Yoruba government.
Olisa expressed doubts over the credibility of such claims, pointing out that it would be highly unlikely for the Kogi-Igbira ethnic group to challenge the Yoruba in such a manner.
Olisa also disputed Sandra’s version of events regarding Natasha’s experiences with sexual harassment.
“Sandra lied about it,” Ogbonnaya remarked, noting that the original recordings actually showed Natasha describing instances of harassment, contrary to Sandra’s claims.
In addition, Ogbonnaya dismissed Sandra’s accusations that Natasha had gained Dr. Oby Ezekwesili’s support through unethical means.
She revealed that the recordings actually depicted Natasha expressing gratitude for Ezekwesili’s backing and discussing the hurdles women face in the political arena.
Ogbonnaya also accused Sandra of manipulating high-profile figures, including former Imo Governors Rochas Okorocha and Hope Uzodinma, through blackmail.
Ogbonnaya claimed Sandra even boasted about her role in getting Rochas Okorocha elected as governor. Regarding payment, Ogbonnaya disclosed that Sandra offered her N300,000 to produce political voiceovers, but she rejected the offer.
Ogbonnaya has now called for a police investigation into Sandra Duru’s alleged actions, urging the authorities to examine her activities.
She also warned Senate President Akpabio to be cautious, saying, “I’m telling Akpabio to be wary of her. The evidence I have sent to you now are a tip of the iceberg. Let her remember that.”
