The incident occurred on Sunday morning after youths reportedly vandalized an oil pipeline belonging to a multinational oil company. While scooping fuel, the area erupted into a massive fireball, resulting in severe burns for many others, who are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
Reports suggest that the explosion might have been triggered by the attempt to light mosquito coils near the leaked fuel. Authorities and community leaders are calling for an end to illegal oil bunkering and urging oil companies to upgrade their facilities to prevent such catastrophic events.
