Yunusa Tanko, the Chief Spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Campaign Organisation, clarified that Peter Obi’s visit to the Labour Party headquarters on May 21 was aimed at reconciling internal party factions, not endorsing the Julius Abure-led national working committee.

Despite a statement from the party suggesting endorsement, Tanko emphasized that Obi’s intent was to promote unity among the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the party. Obi’s focus remains on fostering peace and building an inclusive political community dedicated to improving Nigeria’s conditions.
