In Kenya, police deployed tear gas to disperse protesters calling for President William Ruto to resign. In Kitengela, near Nairobi, approximately 200 protesters faced tear gas while burning tires and chanting anti-Ruto slogans. Similar scenes unfolded in central Nairobi and Mombasa.
Despite President Ruto’s recent withdrawal of a controversial finance bill, a cabinet reshuffle, and spending cuts, anti-government protests have resumed. Youth activists organized a nationwide “shutdown” on Tuesday, blaming Ruto for governance failures, corruption, and the deaths of numerous young protesters in recent weeks.
The fledgling Gen Z protest movement continues to challenge Ruto’s administration, demanding accountability and reform. The protests highlight growing discontent among Kenya’s youth and the ongoing political instability in the country.
