Protests broke out in Kinshasa, DR Congo, on Tuesday, as demonstrators attacked embassies, accusing several nations of supporting Rwanda’s role in backing M23 rebels in the country’s eastern region. The embassies of France, the US, Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya were targeted by angry protesters.

Protesters, frustrated by the escalating violence in the east, clashed with police who responded with tear gas. A protester voiced their despair, stating, “The people of Congo are tired. How many times should we die?” The French embassy was briefly set on fire before the blaze was extinguished.

Congolese Communications Minister Patrick Muyaya urged the public to refrain from violent actions, stressing that while anger is justified, peaceful expression is essential: “We have every right to express our anger, but let’s do it peacefully.
