The Nigerian military reported the death of multiple individuals linked to IPOB and ESN during a raid in Imo State. The operation, under Operation Udo Ka, targeted militants along the Ekeututu-Ihiteunansa Road in Orsu Local Government Area. “Troops engaged with the suspected militants and neutralized several individuals,” the Army stated, recovering weapons and explosives.

Meanwhile, IPOB’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, urged peace and unity in the South East. Following Simon Ekpa’s arrest, Ejiofor condemned the violence associated with the Biafra movement, stating, “The struggle for freedom must reject violence and criminality.”

The ongoing violence in the South East seems to be fueling further instability, and while addressing the region’s grievances is important, violence will only prolong the suffering for all parties involved. Peace and dialogue are critical for lasting solutions.
