The ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles have left widespread devastation, with over 150,000 people still under evacuation orders and at least 11 dead.
Residents, particularly from Altadena, are criticizing firefighters for focusing on wealthy areas like Pacific Palisades while neglecting ordinary homes. Nicholas Norman, a teacher from Altadena, lamented, “We didn’t see a single firefighter… they were too busy saving the rich and famous’s properties.”
Similarly, Nicole Perri, a resident of Palisades, expressed anger, stating, “We’ve lost everything, and I just feel zero support from our city, our horrible mayor and our governor.”
Many are now demanding accountability from local officials, including Mayor Karen Bass, who faced backlash for being abroad when the fires erupted. Criticism is also directed at budget cuts and misinformation during the evacuation process.
