Zambia’s former president Edgar Lungu said the ruling to disqualify him has been expected, alleging political interference in the judiciary.
The constitutional court in Zambia has barred former president Edgar Lungu from contesting in 2026 and any future elections, ruling that he has served for two presidential terms , the maximum allowed by the constitution.
Lungu, who served as a minister of justice and minister of defence under president Sata, became President in January 2015 after winning by- election by the ruling.
