The Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) will host the 38th edition of its Anti-Corruption Situation Room (ACSR) on February 27, 2025, in Abuja.
The event will feature Professor Shehu Abdullahi as the keynote speaker, discussing “Fostering Integrity and Accountability to Reclaim Our Future: Strategies for Combating Corruption and Impunity Across the Board in Nigeria.”
This quarterly forum, organized by HEDA, brings together various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society groups, media practitioners, and anti-corruption advocates, to address governance issues like transparency, human rights, electoral reforms, and sustainable development. The aim is to promote collaboration and develop policy-driven solutions to fight corruption.
The theme for this edition, “Ethics, Integrity, Corruption Risk Assessments, and Anti-Corruption at National and Sub-National Levels: Sustaining the Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria,” will focus on Nigeria’s recent corruption ratings and explore practical ways to reduce corruption and impunity.
HEDA Chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, emphasized the importance of the event: “The Anti-Corruption Situation Room is a platform for critical engagement, designed to equip stakeholders with the tools and strategies necessary to advance ethical governance.
Our goal is to foster awareness, inspire commitment, and drive systemic change in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.”
The discussions will focus on strengthening anti-corruption agencies, promoting judicial independence, and utilizing media, technology, and civil society to increase transparency and accountability in public office.
