Filippo Ferlazzo, an Italian national, has received a 24-year prison sentence for the fatal assault of Alika Ogorchukwu, a 39-year-old Nigerian man who was ambushed while using crutches in Civitanova Marche, Italy, on July 29, 2022. This vicious attack unfolded in plain sight with multiple witnesses present, yet none intervened.
Reports indicate that Ferlazzo employed Ogorchukwu’s own crutches to perpetrate the deadly assault, while onlookers recorded the horrifying incident on their smartphones. Ferlazzo was apprehended on July 30, 2022, on suspicion of both Ogorchukwu’s murder and the theft of his phone.
Italian authorities revealed that the altercation transpired at 2:00 p.m. on July 29, and tragically, Ogorchukwu succumbed to his injuries before paramedics could arrive. Following a protracted legal battle, Ferlazzo was ultimately sentenced to 24 years in prison on September 27, 2023. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), made this announcement yesterday, 28th September, 2023. #OMAGIST@AFRICAWORLDNEWS*
