Africa’s journey at the 2025 SportClub World Cup came to a premature end as all four representatives—Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Al Ahly (Egypt), Espérance de Tunis (Tunisia), and Wydad Casablanca (Morocco)—failed to advance beyond the group stage.

Mamelodi Sundowns began their campaign with a promising victory over Ulsan HD, but their momentum faltered in subsequent matches. A narrow 4–3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund and a scoreless draw against Fluminense left them with three points—just short of the mark needed to move on.

Al Ahly, competing in Group A, were unable to secure a single win. The Egyptian club collected only two points from a pair of draws and a loss, falling short of the Round of 16.

Espérance de Tunis fared no better, finishing third in their group. With only one point from a draw and two defeats, the Tunisian side struggled to make a significant impact despite spirited performances.

Wydad Casablanca endured the most difficult tournament among the African clubs. The Moroccan team was outclassed in all three group matches, suffering defeats to Juventus, Manchester City, and Al Ain. They exited the competition without earning a point, sealing a disappointing campaign for Africa.

The early exits mark a setback for African clubs, who leave the global stage without a representative in the knockout rounds.
