Legendary Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, has reacted angrily after the Federal Government banned his latest anti-Tinubu track, Tell Your Papa.
The song was prohibited by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which labeled it “offensive.”
In a post shared on Instagram, Abdulkareem condemned the government’s actions, describing them as an effort to suppress the truth and silence critical voices.
He drew a comparison to the 2004 ban on his iconic protest song, Jaga Jaga, calling the current administration under President Tinubu “vindictive” and “insensitive.”
The rapper shared the NBC’s official memo and expressed his frustrations, writing:
“It’s clear that in Nigeria, telling the truth or offering constructive criticism is viewed as a crime by the government.
“Under President Tinubu, we are witnessing one of the most harsh and oppressive governments in Nigerian history. The administration is forcing the media to cover up the truth and protect the government, creating a dangerous precedent for free speech.”
“Is it any wonder Nigeria remains stagnant? Only truth can heal a nation’s wounded conscience.”
