Kenneth Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor and former Labour Party spokesman, has called on Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and President Bola Tinubu to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. In an Arise TV interview, he criticized both the ruling APC and opposition parties for failing Nigerians, stating, “The ruling party has failed, and the opposition has failed.”
He argued that if opposition parties had united, “they would have produced the Speaker and the Vice” in the House of Representatives, offering a stronger challenge to the ruling party. Okonkwo condemned Tinubu’s abrupt removal of the fuel subsidy without proper planning, calling it “irresponsible” and harmful to the nation’s welfare.
He further criticized the government’s priorities, highlighting the purchase of a new presidential jet amid widespread insecurity, and labeling the administration “nepotistic and despotic.” Stressing the need for new leadership, Okonkwo concluded, “All of them have failed,” urging the opposition to prioritize the people’s welfare over election ambitions.
